100% OF INCOME

intended for food and hygiene

In Senegal, teranga is the spirit of hospitality. It is also associated with tolerance, respect, help and, of course, happiness . It is the word that best defines our experience in Africa, we could spend hours talking about what this meant in our lives.

In August 2019 we visited a village in Senegal, Toucar. We were working in a medical clinic and, upon learning of the many deficiencies that existed, we started several projects to help with the different material and training needs of those who work there, dedicated to the health care of the neighbouring populations of Toucar and Ndoc.

The collection was to be promoted this summer but given the current global pandemic situation due to Covid-19, we have brought forward the launch to help with the urgent needs currently faced by the population of Toucar, Ndoc and other nearby villages.

These needs today are basic nutrition and hygiene .

Teranga gives its name to this 100% charitable collection .

All the products in this Collection were designed together with Marcelo , the village seamstress, as an original initiative to help small businesses in Toucar. 100% of the income from this Collection, as well as donations, will go towards food and hygiene for the neediest families in Toucar and Ndoc.

Our great friend from Tucaré, Abdou Sahu, known to us as Pablo, is the one in charge of distributing the bags of rice, soap and bleach throughout the area. Due to the current situation, many families are subject to confinement schedules that prevent them from working. Without a social aid system in their country, these people cannot obtain the economic resources to feed themselves since they live day by day from the fruits of their work, mostly in the fields. Many of these families are large, some of them having to work to feed up to 15 people.

The fabrics of all La Teranga products are Senegalese hand-made from silk, linen and cotton. As these are handmade products, they may differ slightly from the photos. As they are made with natural dyes, all products must be hand-washed.
